Sport has no racial, social or political barriers, which means that it is the perfect way for all men and women, boys and girls to achieve amazing results, regardless of race, creed or colour. The opportunity to represent one’s country in the name of sport at an international level is probably one of the greatest achievements an individual can make. The pressure that the competitors have at this level is enormous, and goes far beyond normal physical endurance. To win, especially at such a high level, competitors will have to tap into inner resources that their years of training will have prepared them for.

WKF Canada encourages participation by athletes with disabilities (physical or mental) in competitions and other activities to the full extent of their interests and abilities. Any member club will have the right to seek, on behalf of any athlete with a disability participating on the member’s team, a reasonable modification or accommodation of a playing rule, provided that the modification or accommodation would not compromise the safety of, or increase the risk of injury to any other athlete. It would not also change any essential element that would fundamentally alter the nature of the sport or provide the athlete an unfair advantage over the other competitors.
